Secondary market

After the Debt Office issues government securities at primary market auctions, they are traded in the secondary market. In this trading, the Debt Office’s primary dealers have an undertaking to offer buy and sell prices for all government securities.

Swedish government securities are traded on electronic trading platforms and by telephone.

The Debt Office requires primary dealers to use at least one electronic platform for interbank trading, i.e. when they are trading directly with each other. The platform used is Nasdaq.

The primary dealers can also opt to trade through a broker.
