Browser and technology

The Debt Office website works in different browsers. However, we recommend using a modern browser to avoid any deviations in design and function.

The website has been constructed according to the web standard W3C 2.0. The content is structured using the programming language XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and the presentation of the content uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) 2.1 and 3.

Unicode (UTF-8) is the standard used for encoding.

Responsive website

The website is responsive, meaning that it adapts to the size of the screen you are using when visiting the website.

PDF documents

Many documents are published as PDF files. In order to read them, you need to install Adobe Reader. The application is free and can be downloaded from the Adobe website. If you are having trouble opening and/or reading the files, it could be because you need to update your Acrobat Reader to a later version.

A problem with opening pdf-files can sometimes occur in the webbrowser Chrome, if this happens we recommend that you try using Explorer or Edge instead.

The website requires JavaScript to be activated in your browser for the following features:

  • display of help texts when you click on the help icon (if JavaScript is turned off, the help texts are visible from the start)
  • error messages in forms (if something has not been filled in correctly, all error messages will come up when you click on “Submit”)
  • suggestions in the search field
  • login to the SIBS system

JavaScript is usually preset to activated in your browser. If this is not the case, you can change it from the browser menu via Tools/Internet options.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

When you visit our site, you may see a pop-up window regarding security. The is because we have chosen to present our entire website over SSL, so that you can feel secure.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) means that all communication between you and the website is encrypted and that you can be sure that it is actually the official website of the Swedish National Debt Office you have opened. You can see that our website uses SSL because it says https:// in the address bar of your browser.
